What a fantastic sunny day in the magnolia state.

At one intersection the cotton was ready for harvest,

across the road it was harvested,

baled, and ready to be trucked to a textile factory then fashioned into next year's Devil's Creek T-shirts.

I believe we saved the best riding for Day 3.  About 150 miles of hills, narrow dirt roads and scenic landscape.

[i-PgH9CbC-L]

Although the scenery remained, the last 50 miles of our route turned to pavement as we approached the greater Jackson area.

In fact, I suggest starting MHCT about 40 miles north of Jackson and ride to the Tennessee/Mississippi state line for an excellent three day tour.

Without a doubt our day 3 route (MHCT South Route) was by far the best. The roads seemed smaller and more remote than the north route. Like Jakbrand said, the extreme south end of both routes is paved so starting farther north would be a wise move. All things considered we had three fantastic days of riding through the heart of Mississippi.

Great ride.  Lots of really cool small towns and nice people.  A part of America forgotten by time.

What a great ride! Just ride, eat, sleep, and repeat the next day.  Nothing demanding. No work for me, Jack and Tooly did all the navigation.  I just got between the two of them and follow.  We were blessed with perfect weather................. except for that one cloud we saw leaving the motel the first day, but we waited till it passed.  Wouldn't change a thing, except for falling out of Jack's truck after loading the bike for the trip up.  Jammed up my wrist, but besides that..................just like J Rogers Bar-B-Que & Soul Food.................. "IT'S ALL GOOD"

I just love reading and re-reading this ride. Looks like it is easy on my 06 KLR650; but will put a new set of D606s on.
I really like the dirt back road, tree covered, farm lined riding.
Will have to get Sam's route and put this on my list.

 Thanks for the GREAT report.
 Don.

It's a perfect ride for a KLR, we had a blast riding thru the heart of Mississippi. The "marbles" keep you on you toes and add to the excitement. Good early spring or late fall ride when it's cool.

Also liking the trucking move. Will be easier to put the KLR in the back of the truck and drive there. I think riding there is about 500+ miles each way. Looking forward to doing this in 2016.
