I'm definitively interested and could help with the drive up.

Shipping a bike Forward air in their bike Container to Denver is about $950 each way from Tampa + add in F150 Truck from Enterprise to get the event + accomodation + Rt air tickets + $325 entry fee (Makes DDS ride sound cheap)= $expensive.$
So the drive option split between 10 bikes ( I have a trailer that can haul 10 bikes) makes it affordable.

Now to find 8 or 10 Guys up for the challenge, expense & commitment.

In the meantime we have commitments to go to Baja as it's just so much simpler to do a fully inclusive trip than try & put a group together,  however finding the Folks  & getting a commitment is going to be tough. Hopefully  & maybe something can come together here on DDS. This will be a challenging ride.....not for everyone.

get a list of questions ready. I asked Mike to stop by here and post some more stuff and answer some questions people had. He tells me about maybe hooking us up with a day of whitewater rafting... REAL whitewater rafting!

Dropping over the edge from 12,000 feet into the northern San Luis Valley from the Chicago Mine. Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range in the background. This is a really neat part of the country-side. That's the beginning of the Rio Grande watershed in the bottom of this valley.

I'd love to go but two weeks would not work for me. From our past rides I've found that you can get a lot of riding in out west in 5 days of riding. 10 days always seemed to work pretty well bookending a weeks with two weekends.
And I wouldn't worry too much about the altitude. I know that both Dan and I could be mistaken for world class athletes, but we didn't seem to have any problems riding the Alpine Loop between 9,000 and 13,000 feet.
And don't be afraid to drive straight out. A three man rotation will work and when you get out there and start riding the drive is all but forgotten. Best deal would be to pay for someone to drive the bikes out and then fly out.

I couldn't do the full two week thing either. Two days drive out, 4 or 5 ride days, then two days drive home would work perfect for me.
Just hard for me to get away longer than that. Hopefully something will work out.

I really like Mike's suggestion to do the two day ride then relocate to Telluride on Monday for two more days of riding.

Looks like so far I'm haulin' a "fifty something" Swampy to Colorado and leavin' him out there after 5 days. Let's see what other options come up.

PM from Swampy:
"Tooly, I'm takin' the 690 as my main bike, then the Tiger to ride home,........oh yeah, and the KLX250 in case of a break down. Are you gonna have room for your bike?".............WTH!

Come on Wingam.......they might have BBQ!!

Mike......Any pics from the Montrose-Telluride area??
