Northern Virginia Foliage Ride

The leaves are starting to turn and we figured it was time for a spin through the countryside and up to Skyline...... First need to get the Beast ready to go....air check, oil check, preload adjust, etc.....and the Beast is ready and waiting in the driveway....

Off we go up HWY 688 north......just out the driveway....not too many places to stop and take pics and besides that we need to ride! I thought the best way for you folks to see the countryside was a little video heading Northbound towards Front Royal...

&ampampnbsp
&ampampnbsp

Once we get close to Front Royal, Ms Beast Rider says she is hungry....so we need to stop for some breakfast. Temperature this morning was about 46 degrees but promises to get up to the mid 70's...should be a perfect day.
We stop at this place.....not really ice cream weather....but has promise..

Not many folks sitting out having a cone..

This place has to be good with a sign like this....

By the way they have great Barbecue here....as you can tell from Petunia Pig in the front parking lot....

If you live on this Street would it ever be uplifting every morning to think you reside on someplace called "Dismal"....actually this is a great road to take a ride on...that's the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background....

Once we finish breakfast we head on up to Skyline....what fantastic views as always but now the trees are all changing colour....here are a few pics from up on the drive.....it's now about 65 degrees even up here...

It's hard to believe how scenic this place is ....even if you live here and see it all the time......here is a little video coming down from Skyline.....it's a lot steeper and twistier than it looks....great ride.....

&nbsp
&nbsp

Here are a couple more from up on the Drive....

The problem is we gotta get home.....here is a little video going back home....eat your hearts out

Ahhhhhhh......no place like home.....

Hope you enjoyed the ride...

Nice views and nice bike. No doubt I'm jealous......until the real cold nasty stuff shows up. Then you can have it.

Looks like we missed out on the colors by a few weeks.
Nice report Beastrider.

Agreed; very very nice. The videos are fantastic as well. What type of camera set up do you use? It is just great, I have watched them over and over....

Hendedo, It's a wide angle video cam called a GoPro. It takes about 2 hours of video or 2000 still pics....her is what it looks like in the waterproof case...

and out of the case it's about the size of a box of wooden matches....

It takes a very wide angle video...about 170 degrees....here is how I mounted it....

from the rear....you just turn it on and it pauses until you hit the button on top....then it starts to record....when you want to stop recording....just hit the button again.....and it pauses waiting to do another video...

Nice, nice, nice.  Thanks for sharing.  It looked like a perfect day except for having to skip the ice cream ... oh well, that's just an excuse for another ride on another day!
