Little ride on last Friday

So Ms Beast Rider and I decided to go for a little ride on Friday. Skyline Drive has hardly any people up there this time of year and we figured the snow is pretty well gone....so set out early in the morning for about a 4-5 hour ride......here it is.....

Naturally the first stop has to be at the Apple House for hot cinnamon doughnuts and orange juice........

Could not get ice cream....

but they do have good bbq and doughnuts......

next stop in Front Royal to pick up a sandwich for lunch up on Skyline....nothing is open up there yet.......

once you are up on Skyline it's time to stop at the visitors center and have a bio break and take this pic down in the valley......

that's why it is so nice up here at this time of year....no people..

then we head on down the road to Elk Wallow to have lunch....there is Ms Beast Rider getting stuff ready.....

hardly any snow left up here.....

after lunch we head on down the road and stop at one of the many overlooks.....

same amount of traffic here....

after we came down from Skyline we stopped just North of our place at the Orlean Market....which you should know has gone back to the original owners and would be a great place to eat for an event that we had today at Griffins Tavern.....let me show you....

Here is the view.....

if you don't bring your bike but you rode a horse....there is a parking spot for him as well...

here is the place.....

here is the menu....amongst other things....

fresh baked stuff.....

and you can sit out here for your breakfast or lunch....cool...

and lastly I took a short video coming across Crest Hill Road on the way home....

hope you enjoyed the ride.

Thanks for sharing that sweet ride with us.  Makes a dirt only rider think about a road bike.
