A long time ago, someone mentioned, raising the Gearing for the 400S. I might want taller gearing, since 1st gear is so low and less vibes at highter speeds.
I am playing on riding the western TAT this summer.
Any experience w/ the TAT on this bike would be helpful. Any used/cheap parts you might have, I could add to my bike would be nice too!

From riding my 400s with stock gearing () 15/44) and also trying a 14t front (one tooth lower than stock), I would stay with the stock gearing.  Stock is a good balance for paved roads and dirt roads. If you do go with higher gearing, be aware that a 16t tooth front is hard to get fit from what I recall. For higher gearing would go with a smaller rear sprocket maybe a 41 or 42 tooth.

Most important thing to have on this trip is to get a good camera so you can take plenty of pictures so you can share with us!

I run a 14/41 combo for street. It doesnt take much terrain to challenge this combo on single track and hill climbing, so I reserve the stock gearing for single track and dual sport use.

Now if I could come up with another set of wheels to mount my 80/20 tires and 41 sprocket to for easier mode conversions!

Another set of wheels, good Idea, but how would I carry them on the TAT? LOL
