Some friends at work were wanting me to ride here with them this weekend but the plans fell through. I decided to go it alone. Pretty cool trail. What makes it even better is that with a dual sport bike you can jump off the ATV trail onto Jeep roads, old logging roads and forest service roads. There's trails all over this mountain!

You hit long winding sections and start thinking it's an easy trail then all of a sudden you find a real technical section.

The guys at work said the only problem with this trail is that after 14 miles, you have to turn around and go back the way you came. I found the cure to their problem. They need to park their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers and get a dual sport bike. The sign at the bottom says to stay on the trail but with a tag you can jump off at the top on a forest service road or in another spot to a 4x4 road which are both totally legal for a tagged bike. Actually I liked them better than the ATV trail because they were fast with lots of jumps.

This is an old Jeep trail we used to call Mud Hollow, or actually "Mud Holler" in TN lingo. I rode this back in the 70's. And even in the drought it still has mud!

Turn offs all over the place. My map shows dead ends but not sure about that.

This road comes out about 2 miles below the ATV trail.

That is Buffalo Mountain in the middle background.

The location is Dry Creek Road just a few miles south of Johnson City.
