Some guys on ADV have worked together to come up with a route that goes from the Gulf Coast to the Maine Coast called the Trans Eastern Trail.  I met NorthernTraveler while he was scouting the GA section.  His tracks are available here:
The original idea was to find a route that stayed close to the Appalachian Trail and use as much dirt as possible.  I think they've done an awesome job in a very short time.
I think the route shows some big bike bypasses in GA.  Some notable areas on the route are Flatlands, Upper Hightower, Helen, Winding Stairs, Patterson Gap, and Hatchet Creek, just to name a few.
I'm sure lots of us can say, "Yeah, I've rode sections of the TET," but, who's gonna be the first to ride the entire TET?

Does anyone have TET /TETS maps or route info? The ADV info is no longer available.
